Irena Orlov is an innovative contemporary fine artist, architect, designer, illustrator, and photographer known for creating captivating works which are full of energy. Extraordinarily versatile in her diverse mediums, Orlov could never imagine life without art. Her path in the fine arts has led her to a unique expression of mood and color. The combination of nostalgia with a clean, crisp modern design sense creates a highly prized, individual art style. Her images begin spontaneously and give expression to personal creativity and insight. Orlov often prefers to think of herself as a craftsman, constructing or interpreting imagery and messages from her conscious and subconscious mind. She produces a variety of styles which include bohemian themes, shabby chic, mid-century modern, rustic, modern abstracts, contemporary landscapes, flowers, seascapes, wildlife and horses.
“I love traditional painting styles like acrylic, oil, pastel and watercolor, but I like to experiment so my major style is a multi-media painting where I combine hand painting with various digital media using different techniques and various software applications.
I’ve been drawn by the magical beauty behind fine arts and design since childhood. Having had a successful career in architecture and design for quite a long time, I decided to eneter the fine art market. I began to look for new ways to express my emotions and feelings. The process of creating art gave me what I wanted—endless ways of expressing myself. During the creative process, I don’t limit myself to a specific style or medium; therefore, my art is mostly…mixed media and based on my emotions and my mood as I am very spontaneous. One day I might use photography to convey my feelings…and the next day I might paint on canvas to express myself. My work is infused with spirit and energy that I feel at the moment. I encourage viewers to interpret creations in their own way as (they) evoke different feelings in the viewer depending on their own individual experiences and memories.
I continue to be inspired by the beauty of the world around me, spending hours just exploring. Everything is changing so fast these days, and nothing is quite the same from one day to the next.”
